Hill does not know one note of music, but is prepared to test his skills as a charmer and a manipulator against the school board, Mayor Shinn, the gossipy wives of River City, and even the lovely, single, librarian, Marian. He expects to take their money and leave town quickly. In the end, Harold gains new respect for responsibility and the River City folk gain a fresh attitude.
